Ronnie from players club meme4/29/2024 ![]() ![]() Kristopher Wells, I would like to speak out in solidarity with Pride Tape and condemn the National Hockey League’s decision to ban its players from making the personal choice to use Pride Tape on the ice. #LarryKwong #ItsLarrysTurn #HockeyHallOfFame #AAPI #NHL #HockeyIsForEveryone #StopAsianHate #WillieORee #HerbCarnegie #A100 #TobySportsGeeknessĪs a proud member of the LGBTQ2S+ community, a lifelong Oilers fan, and a MacEwan University colleague of Pride Tape co-founder Dr. Shout out to my #ItsLarrysTurn teammates - Chad Soon, Chester Sit, Christopher Woo, Moezine Hasham, Dan Harbridge, Hockey 4 Youth Foundation/Fondation hockey pour les jeunes with Larry's daughter, Kristina Kwong Heintz. AAPI history not taught in US schools in 48 of the 52 US states (Taught only in Illinois, New Jersey, Connecticut and Rhode Island) The number is equally high with young Asian Americans born in the US especially when 76% of Asian-Americans are foreign born (44% Americans can't name a famous living Asian American ) More than 1 in 4 Americans are unable to name a famous Asian American. 1 in 5 US-born children of Asian American adults have admitted that they have hidden their heritage (customs, culture, food, religion and clothing ). Special Call-Out to Asian Professionals to elevate our heroes in face of these stats: ![]() Qualifying public submissions must be received by Mato be circulated prior to the April 15 nomination deadline. I'm calling on business influencers and executives like YOU to provide written endorsement letters for Larry's Hall of Fame application by Friday, Ma(2 weeks from today). While Larry's family did not get the call last fall, we ask you to change this to show that Hockey really is for Everyone. Last year, a movement began to induct Larry into the Hockey Hall of Fame to join other barrier-breaking legends like Willie O’Ree and Herb Carnegie. If you follow my social media, I continue to amplify Larry Kwong's unknown story as National Hockey League (NHL)'s first Asian player in 1948 during horrendous Asian racism and discrimination. Why Larry Kwong's Story and Place in Hockey Hall of Fame Matters to Asian Professionals and Hockey Fans Everywhere NHL banning 'cause-based' jerseys next season | CBC Sports #sports #hockeyisforeveryone #inclusivebusiness #inclusionmatters #dei #inclusivemarketing #inclusiveleadership We need more organizations like Hockey Diversity Alliance and the You Can Play Project and we need to put more pressure on the league to do better. If the league continues to deprioritize the underrepresented communities it relies on to grow, I guarantee the sport will continue to play second fiddle to the more forward-thinking major sports leagues ie. And the league has a history of reinforcing deep systemic issues (sexual assault cover-ups, bigoted coaches and players, and now this recent ban on cause-based jerseys) whilst boldly claiming that "hockey is for everyone".įrankly, it's a BS marketing tagline (this coming from a marketer). The reality is that ice hockey is notoriously known for being socioeconomically inaccessible, predominantly white and upper class, and horribly marketed by the league. I have been a superfan of hockey and the National Hockey League (NHL) my entire life and when I was younger, I always wondered why such a fast-paced and exciting sport never generated the viewership other major sports leagues received. The rest is history.I have been obsessed with ice hockey since I was 6 years old watching Pavel Bure fly through the ice like a rocket. However, Ronnie used Ebony and she ended getting brutally raped and left for dead, cause of Ronnie's scheming and it pissed off Diamond. Diamond was xesually harassed by Ronnie after she was date rape by her while still working at the club with them. What Diamond and Ebony had in common was that they let the business dictate them and they ended getting betrayed, xesually assaulted and had to learn the hard way. They were pimping out the strippers from the Players Club to patrons and non patrons which was dangerous.ĭiamond got caught up in the business briefly, she was hanging around them cause she did not know any better and she got caught up in the lifestyle similar to her younger cousin a couple of years later. If I can recall, they were stripping for a rich Asian or white guy and he was willing to pay them more money if Ronnie performed xes on another girl and Diamond was passed out in the other room.Ronnie/Tricks also got into the business of prostitution which was unethical and illegal.
